As part of a larger and ongoing series of hand debossed works on paper, the Checkered Debossings explore checkered patterns in different warped and modified arrangements.

All of the piece are created using a hand debossing technique to press and burnish the paper in a decorative manner. This process is intended to reference letterpress printing, while relying on the artist’s hand for the mark making, rather than the use of traditional printmaking machines and equipment.
